Ealing Adult Learning service continues to deliver courses through its online offer. We will deliver lessons and support learners through the use of Google Education suite, Zoom, Skype and other digital platforms. 

Our 2020-2021 Prospectus is now available, however there will be major changes to the way we can provide these courses in the Autumn Term.  

For the moment, all our courses will be delivered online, however, we are making very careful plans to ensure that we will be ready for classroom delivery as soon as we can.  The safety of staff and learners is our top priority and we will continue to follow Government and Public Health England advice on social distancing. 

Covid Response Courses - We have planned a wide range of FREE courses with a focus on supporting learners back into employment, re-skilling and promoting health and wellbeing.  If you have been directly impacted by Covid 19, e.g. furloughed, made redundant, at risk of redundancy or redeployment, please type FREE in the search button to view our list of courses.

To participate in online classes you will need an email address, a reliable internet connection, a computer/laptop/tablet/mobile phone with fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome).  Your device will need a microphone and preferably a camera.

Description

Develop basic knowledge and understanding of children's social, emotional, physical, intellectual and communication development.  

Aim
Develop basic knowledge and understanding of childrenís social, emotional, physical, intellectual and communication development.

Course Outline
Unit 1: Understanding the intellectual and language development of children from birth to eight. In this unit you will be learning about: -How children develop at different ages e.g. how they learn and enjoy nursery rhymes, songs. -How to support children develop their reading skills through books. -Introducing age appropriate games for their development. e.g. puzzles and musical toys. Unit 2: Caring for your Child In this unit you will be learning about: -How to encourage positive behaviour and deal with disruptive behaviour at different ages. -Using age appropriate play activities for child development e.g. role play activities for social and emotional development. -Awareness of childrenís physical development up to 11years e.g. looking after their personal hygiene, appropriate play activities for physical development.

Suitability
This course is suitable for those who want to gain the experience and qualification with infants.

Entry Requirements
-You need a minimum Level 1 in English and Maths -Secure a placement in a Primary school (from Year 1)

Learning Outcomes and Teaching Method
Teaching and Learning will involve: -Portfolio building -Pair and group work -Doing research -Student presentations -Group discussions -Practical hands- on activities such as experimenting with creative childrenís activities e.g. making playdough and finger painting

Accreditation and Teaching Route
This course is assessed by portfolio so you will need to complete written assignments in order to achieve your qualification. Your portfolio will be internally and externally verified to meet the qualifications specifications.

Extra Hours
We recommend that you spend 20-30 minutes a day building your portfolio. Homework will be set every week and will be corrected by the tutor. You will also be given a list of useful internet resources which will support you. Through your voluntary placement in the school you will be able to develop your skills through practical activities with children.

Inderpreet Golhar Inderpreet holds a Level 4 PTLLS (Prepare to Teach in Lifelong Learning Skills) now known as Award in Education. She has also completed Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 2 and 3. Inderpreet is also qualified in Level 3 Assessors Course for Workplace Competency. She has been teaching the Childcare Level 1 course for Ealing Adult Learning for the past 7 years. Her passion is teaching and she enjoys seeing her learners achieve and progress themselves further in the education sector.
