Description

The Functional Skills qualification in English at Level 2 is designed to prepare you for work, study and life. It will help you to read, write, speak, listen and communicate with confidence, and to apply this knowledge and these skills effectively to a range of purposes in the workplace and in real life situations. The course will also enable you to acquire an English qualification at the level required for progression on to many professional and vocational qualifications.  

Aims
The Functional Skills qualification in English at Level 2 is designed to prepare learners for work, study and life. It is suitable for a wide range of individuals wishing to improve their English skills and progress onto employment or further qualifications. The purpose of this course is to enable learners to read, write, speak, listen and communicate with confidence, and to apply this knowledge and these skills effectively to a range of purposes in the workplace and in real life situations.

Suitability and entry requirements:
There are no pre-entry or minimum age requirements for this qualification. This qualification is suitable for learners studying the following: Apprenticeships Traineeships Study Programme Alternative to GCSE T-Levels As a standalone qualification

What you will learn on this course
Listen, understand and make relevant contributions to discussions with others in a range of contexts. Apply your understanding of language to adapt delivery and content to suit audience and purpose. Read a range of different text types confidently and fluently, applying your knowledge and understanding of texts to your own writing. Write texts of varying complexity, with accuracy, effectiveness, and correct spelling, punctuation and grammar. Understand the situations when, and audiences for which, planning, drafting and using formal language are important, and when they are less important.

Accreditation, qualifications and assessment methods
This qualification is assessed via 2 external assessments and one controlled assessment. The external assessments cover the following components: Reading Writing The controlled assessment covers the following component: Speaking, Listening and Communicating

Extra Hours
3-4 hours a week for private study and assignments.

Resources, materials and any additional costs?
All teaching and learning materials will be provided. You will need to buy writing paper, pens, a folder for completed work and handouts, and a dictionary.
