Learn Ealing continues to deliver courses face-to-face and through its online offer. We will deliver lessons and support learners through the use of Google Education suite, Zoom, Skype and other digital platforms.

Description

Unlock the power of language with our Pre-Entry ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) course. Designed for individuals with limited English proficiency, this comprehensive program will help you build a solid foundation in English communication. From basic vocabulary to everyday conversations, our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way. Gain confidence, improve your language skills, and open doors to new opportunities. Each term focuses on themes from health, money, numbers and shapes, food, daily life and actvitivities.  

Family ESOL pre-entry
This course supports learners as they take their first steps in learning English and provides an introduction to ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Each week focuses on a variety of themes such as personal information, food, daily life and activities.

Why try? Aims and benefits:
You will be able to practise Speaking, Listening and Reading and some Writing at pre-entry/entry level 1. The scheme of work will be topic based such as health, shopping, education and citizenship. This is suitable for learners who are complete beginners.

What do I need for these sessions?
Online: • Access on your phone, tablet, PC or laptop to Zoom. • A safe and quiet room. • A notepad and a pen/pencil • A bottle of water Face to face: • Your tutor will let you know

Learning Outcomes
Understand and use English in order to give and ask for personal information with increased competence and confidence Identify at least 5 food vocabulary Able to state their likes and dislikes Take part in paired and group discussions relating to health and wellbeing and express views, opinions, advantages, and disadvantages clearly with reasons

Your teacher will give you an initial assessment, please ensure you have completed it.

How you will learn in this course
This course can be up to 10 weeks. Please attend all sessions regularly and on time. A combination of whole class teaching, group and pair work. Methods include: discussion, role-play, drills, listening, literacy and grammar exercises, form-filling, comprehension exercises and watching videos. For online classes: All learners and the tutor will meet online for the sessions, using Zoom. Please note that you will need to download Zoom to gain access, and to have an active email account to receive information about the course, password and reminders.

Individual learning targets will be agreed and reviewed with you and your tutor during one-to-one tutorials.

To make progress in developing your ESOL skills, it is a good idea to attend ESOL classes on regular basis and complete your homework.

No additional costs. Resources and materials - Materials will be provided by the tutor. - Please bring a notepad and pencils.
