Description

This course introduces you to different learning difficulties. You will learn how they affect people and how to provide support. This will help you develop knowledge for work or further study in education or care.  

Aim
This qualification aims to give learners knowledge of different Specific Learning Difficulties, how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported. The qualification can be used by a wide range of learners looking to improve their knowledge and awareness in this subject area

What you will learn on this course:
To be awarded the Certificate, learners are required to successfully complete 5 mandatory units. Accreditation, qualifications and assessment methods:
This is an accredited qualification courses, which includes direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task etc. There is no exam at the end. Instead it requires a credit-based pass to gain the certificate. Your tutor will discuss your progress at least twice each term and you will have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP), which will help with monitoring progress throughout the duration of the course.

How much additional time do you need to invest?
We recommend that you spend 2.5 hours per week studying and going over assignments and collecting evidence for your portfolio.

Progression routes:
Progression Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities Level 2 and 3 Certificates in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 2 and 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 3 Award in Supporting Children and Young People’s Speech, Language and Communication.
